LIMA`19 GEARING-UP TO IT’S BEST EDITION EVER

Final preparations for the 15th edition of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 is currently going under way. LIMA is the brain child of Tun Mahathir Muhamad since its first inceptionin 1991. The biennial event which will be held from the 26th to 30th March this year at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) and the Resorts World Langkawi (RWL) will feature defence & commercial, maritime and aerospace, shipbuilding & ship repair, civil aviation, manufacturers, MRO, airport equipment & services, training & simulation, helicopters, safety & security equipment as well as unmanned systems(UAV’s)to name a few.
The co-organiser of the exhibition, EN Project (M) Sdn Bhd is optimistic that this year’s show will be bigger and better than the previous editions. Declaring that,109 percent of the total exhibition floor space has been taken up.LIMA serves the region asan important platform to converge all defence and commercial, aero space and maritime industries. The unprecedented response from top industry players to be in LIMA`19 has been overwhelming and the organisers are finding it a huge challenge to accommodate these companies given the restricted space available.
LIMA`19 will showcase an increased focus of40% in the commercial segment focusing on the participation from shipbuilding & ship repair and civil aviation industry players. To-date, more than 350 companies from 30 countries have confirmed their participation with more than 10,000 square meters of the exhibition floor space sold to local and international companies. Turkeyis by large thelargest international country pavilion followed by Russia, UK, China, France and Germany –a total of 12 Country Pavilions. While Boustead Heavy Industry Corporation (BHIC)is the biggest Malaysian exhibitor with followed by the National Aerospace and Defence Industri (NADI), Muhibah Engineering Berhad and Sapura Group. The Ministry of Transport will be spearheading the commercial segment by gathering the relevant agencies under one pavilion with a total space of 462 sqm. This shows the commitment of the Ministry to fully support and encourage local entities to offer their expertise, technology and services for the aviation and shipbuilding & ship repair market.
The collaboration of the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Transport for LIMA`19 is in line with the theme “Defence and Commercial Connecting Intelligence”. More than 400 Official Delegates from 46 countries are expected to be present and more than 40,000 trade visitors are also expected to attend this 5-day event
Earlier this morning, a general briefing on the exhibition to the Defense Minister was held followed by the recognition ceremony of the LIMA`19 Event Partners.The ceremony concluded with a presentation of sponsorship momento to the Chairman of EN Projects (M) Sdn Bhd, Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor (Retired) witnessed byMohammad Bin Sabu and Deputy Minister of Transport, Dato’ Kamarudin Jaffar. During thepress conferenceheld in conjunction with ceremony in Langkawi, Mohamad Bin Sabu said that the LIMA`19 is a platform for exhibitors to showcase the latest assets and technologies that are important in contemporary defence and to cater for the ever-growing commercial market for the region.

Every two years, an event comes along that captures the attention of industry players and is looked forward to by the general public.The Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre will showcase exhibits, hold conferences, conduct seminars & talks,present business meetings with the highlight being the daily airshow and aircraft static display. It’s open to trade visitors from 26th to 28th March from 10am to 5.30pm while 29th to 30th March is open to public visitors from 9.00am to 6.00pm.
Foreign ships will also be encouraged along site the Star Cruise Jetty Terminal at Resorts World Langkawi together with the maritime demonstration and maritime assets static display throughout the duration of the event and open to all visitors from 10.00am to 6.00pm daily. The maritime demonstrations will take place twice a day from 10.00am to 12.00pm and 5.00pm to 6.00pm.
HAL Tejas from the Indian Air Force who will be making its maiden appearance at LIMA`19 will also perform for daily airshow together with Jupiter from Indonesia and the Royal Malaysian Air Force. The highly anticipated state-of-the-art aerial displays for the 5-day event will be on show from 12.30pm to 2.30pm during trade days and two sessions on the public days from 10.00am to 12.00pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm respectively.
LIMA`19 will be the best platform of choice for industry leaders, high-level government and military delegations from across the region to gain access to the latest advent of technology from the aerospace and maritime sectors both for the military and civil applications.
LIMA is the largest event dedicated to the maritime and aerospace defense and commercial industry in the Asia-Pacific region. LIMA continues to be a major focal point for industry players and key decision makers representing Asia’s rapidly growing markets. At LIMA`17, the event hosted 371 delegations from 49 countries comprising ministers, senior government officials, military decision makers and commercial aviation executives as well as witnessing a participation of 555 companies from 36 countries covering a total occupied area of 119,209 square meters. The event was covered by 634 journalists comprising local and international media and trade magazines.
