Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Transport with One Mission at LIMA`19

The 15th edition of The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition will be held on 26th to 30th March 2019 (LIMA`19) marks a number of commemorative activities for industrial players and public’s edification. Focusing on the ASEAN market at beyond, LIMA`19 is solemnized on a national level for five consecutive days that is located at The Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) at Langkawi Island.
LIMA`19 has had a strong support by the Malaysian Government through the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Transport as well as Malaysian Armed Forces, Security and Enforcement agencies, industries and the trade associations.
“We will be introducing new measures to strengthen LIMA’s effectiveness, whilst improving the existing initiatives. LIMA`19 has a target 600 companies, 14 country pavilions, 350 foreign delegations, more than 100 planes and 30 maritime assets” said the CEO, Lt General (Ret) Dato’ Sri Haji Sabri Adam. “more than 60% of the floor space has already been booked by local and international companies and the space is selling very fast, we expect the percentage to increase in the next coming months” he added.
LIMA`19 soft launch was officiated by YB Tuan Haji Mohamad Bin Sabu, the Minister of Defence and witnessed by YB Senator Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Defence Minister, YBhg General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Haji Zulkifli Bin Haji Zainal Abidin, Chief Of Defence Forces, YBhg. Dato’ Hajah Junaidah Binti Kamaruddin Deputy Secretary General (Policy) Ministry Of Defence and Dr. G Periasamy, Representative Of Secretary General Ministry Of Transport.
Today’s ceremony has captured the appointment of the senior officers from Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Transport to be the Head of LIMA`19 Secretariat. The launch also highlighted the handover of participation contracts of LIMA`19 exhibitors.
“The exhibition will also give the government the opportunity to have a reference point for capability development and modernising the military as well as the civil aerospace and maritime requirement. Maritime and air domain are our top priorities, and LIMA acting as our defence hub, is perfect for seeing the potential in these industries.” said The Minister of Defence, YB Tuan Haji Mohamad Bin Sabu.
LIMA has committed to collaborate with Ministry of Defence together with Ministry of Transport in their tremendous effort on emphasizing their focused segment to defence and commercial maritime and aerospace sectors. They are aiming to create more public awareness as part of their objectives besides providing a platform to exhibit their latest tools and showcasing the current advent of technology at LIMA`19.
LIMA is putting an enormous venture on the exhibition that is high profile, new products and technologies giving an impact to the maritime and aerospace, commercial and civil applications as well as tourism industries in Langkawi. The public will have the chance to explore this landscape at a greater level including indoor and outdoor exhibition, maritime demonstrations, aerobatic performances and static displays. The exhibition will be open to the public on 29th and 30th March 2019.
LIMA is the largest event dedicated to the maritime and aerospace defense and commercial industry in the Asia-Pacific region. LIMA continues to be a major focal point for industry players and key decision makers representing Asia’s rapidly growing markets. At LIMA`17, the event hosted 371 delegations from 49 countries comprising ministers, senior government officials, military decision makers and commercial aviation executives as well as witnessing a participation of 555 companies from 36 countries covering a total occupied area of 119,209 square meters. The event was covered by 634 journalists comprising local and international media and trade magazines.
LIMA`19, the 15th edition will be held from 26th to 30th March 2019. Held biennially, LIMA is the best platform of choice for industry leaders, high-level government and military delegations.
